OUTPOST ONE – THE GALACTIC FAN ART EXHIBITION

Exclusive Interview with Founder Marc Langrock
By Jens Schleicher | The German Star Wars Magazine Issue #116

In this issue, we travel to northern Germany to visit one of the most extraordinary fan projects in the galaxy — Outpost One. Spanning more than 1,300 square meters, the exhibition presents an incredible collection of over 80 life-size figures, creatures, and ships from the Star Wars universe — all handcrafted by passionate fans and artists.

Founder Marc Langrock’s connection to Star Wars began in childhood, when he first saw Episode IV – A New Hope in theaters. “I was eight years old, and it blew us all away,” he recalls. “Since I was the smallest in the group, I had to play R2-D2 — and that created a special bond with the character.” What started as a childhood fascination evolved into a lifelong passion — and eventually, a museum dedicated to celebrating Star Wars artistry.

Outpost One opened its doors in summer 2019 and now celebrates its fifth anniversary. Visitors are guided through a chronological journey of life-size dioramas, a spectacular Hangar Hall featuring full-scale ships like a TIE Interceptor and a modified N1 Naboo Fighter, and a separate Scale Exhibition that showcases intricately detailed dioramas in 1:6 and 1:4 scale. The centerpiece: a breathtaking 1:6 Millennium Falcon inside a walk-in Hangar 94, surrounded by the bustling streets of Mos Eisley.

The exhibition has grown through the collaboration of many talented international artists — including Graham Scott, Jordu Schell, Howard Senft, Andy Wright, and the German prop team Project X1. Contributing artists like Legacy Arts Custom Dioramas added signature pieces such as the iconic Mos Eisley Cantina Bar, enriching the immersive environment with authentic craftsmanship.

Over the years, Outpost One has also hosted special guests such as Hans-Georg Panczak (German voice of Luke Skywalker), Brian Muir (sculptor of Darth Vader’s helmet), Femi Taylor (Oola in Return of the Jedi), and Angus MacInnes (Gold Leader). These visits underscore what makes Outpost One so unique — it’s not just a museum, but a living celebration of Star Wars creativity and community.

ROGER CHRISTIAN – THE MAN WHO BUILT A GALAXY

Exclusive Interview with Roger Christian
By Jens Schleicher | The German Star Wars Magazine Issue #113

For The German Star Wars Magazine Issue #113, we had the honor of speaking with Roger John Christian — the Academy Award–winning film director, screenwriter, art director, and set designer whose visionary work helped shape the very look and feel of the Star Wars universe.

An Oscar-winning creative force, Roger Christian is the man who gave form to George Lucas’s imagination — crafting the first lightsaber for Luke Skywalker, designing the gritty, lived-in aesthetic of the Millennium Falcon, and constructing the legendary Mos Eisley Cantina, where audiences first glimpsed the vast diversity of a galaxy far, far away. His artistic sensibility infused Star Wars with authenticity and texture, transforming science fiction into cinematic mythology.

In this in-depth conversation, Roger reflects on his early days in the British film industry, his groundbreaking collaborations on Star Wars and Alien, and the creative philosophy that continues to inspire new generations of filmmakers.

“The key was to make it feel real,” he recalls. “I wanted audiences to believe that people actually lived in that world — that every ship, every wall, every weapon had a story.”

From humble beginnings to Academy Award acclaim, Roger Christian’s legacy endures as the man who quite literally built the galaxy — one set, one prop, and one dream at a time.
